There are three things that I want to hit in this blog post: Laura Marling, Bioblitz, and the general feel of going to college at Lewis and Clark.
Okay, so, the other week I went to see Laura Marling perform at a coffee shop in Portland.

It was absolutely amazing. I talked to her and stood a foot away when she performed. Needless to say, I am madly in love with her. For more on that, check this out. I wrote it for Hear and Now Northwest, which was started by the lovely Clara Youtz.

Now, most of you probably don't know what Bioblitz is. That's okay. You don't need to unless you're into lichen or pseudo scorpions. I'll just tell you about it anyways. It is this biology conference on the Oregon coast. Home base is a cute little house nestled between the ocean and a river, with a lovely forest in between. We spent our time collecting samples, searching for invertebrates, and going on mushroom and lichen hikes. And guess who I went with? Demi Glidden and the Biology Club. (They are releasing their second album, entitled "Lichen or Not," in time for the holidays.)

Lewis and Clark is serving me well. My classes are difficult and reading the Bible can be a drag, but I am getting exactly what I came here for: classes that are something more than just a means to propel me into the next phase of my life, a great group of people (old and new), and gray, rainy days.
