Until next time,

You can count on me to neglect a blog

Seriously.

I had a blog once and the URL was neglectedblogs.blogspot.com.

But I am going to try to be attentive to this one, because I care about it. Because I care about the person who made it for us. And because I care about you all.

To start, I'm gonna give y'all a taste of #lewisandclarkpartylyfe.

First, it is important to understand the general environment and circumstances of our parties. They are in the woods. Our party spots are lovingly referred to as The River, The Waterfall, and Broken Bridges. The latter is mostly a place you experience in transit: several thick, rotting, half-way stable railroad ties and other nameless wood-stuffs form a precarious crossing over a small ravine. The spot is generally known as a smoke spot, but it is on the way to The Waterfall. Another notable landmark on the way to The Waterfall is the ceramic dick forest. I haven't learned the official name for it, but I assume it could be somewhere along the lines of Phalic Forest, Woody Woods, The Cock Copse, or some other clever alliteration. There are just so many options. Anyways, the place is exactly what it sounds like. There are dozens and dozens of white ceramic dicks fixed to trees, I had the distinct pleasure of viewing them by headlamp, which created a lovely spotlighting effect, where suddenly, gloriously before me was an illuminated ceramic dick.

Back to the partying. Don't let me get sidetracked guys.

It's simple really. There is a bonfire or two, a drum, lots of beer, usually a few pipes being passed around, and a delightful number of plastered youngsters. Chant-like singing waxes and wanes, heated and cozy like the fire. It is generally quite enjoyable.

Anyways, that's all for tonight. Next time, you can look forward to #food which is code for #deliciousconcoctions.

Love,
 Demi

P.S. There is also Wine Wednesday. Which is like a classier version of Wasted Wednesday where the outcome of a fist-fight between Steinbeck and Hemingway is discussed.

New York City Is A Lot of Things.

New York, New York.

There are a lot of expectations in there! And while many of them are true, many others are just hype. Sorry 'bout it. But you guys have no idea what I'm talking about so let me give you some highlights, some thoughts, and then (of course) an inevitable Clara playlist. Yay! (Pictures will precede their description)

1. Welcome Week was a bitch. Let's just be honest, that was a lot of forced merriment and practically none of the people I met during it stuck. Except for like 4 glimmering exceptions. And with those four people I have explored most of lower Manhattan on foot, seen movies at the IFC, been commandeered by a troop of sassy musical actors, had many a bloody foot or blister, and a number of other illicit activities.

2. Freaked out. You know you've all had at least one. Except that I'm in Manhattan and there is literally no place where you are alone. EVER. So I often find myself freakin' in the middle of Washington Square or at this little corner park in the West Village next to some crazy guy with an odor.

3. Met my people, or at least the people I want to be hanging out with within the next few weeks. They are all at WNYU. And I am applying for a show that would focus on NW indie and folk music. Though, I may broaden the scope to indie and folk in general because it's way more sustainable. Anyways, the people at the station are so interesting and have such eclectic styles, and one of the looks like Josh Tacke. Like a lot. It sorta creeped me out.

4. Fun NYC weekends have happened. In fact, I was at a hookah bar in the Village on Saturday night and Aziz Ansari was performing across the street! Crazytown. Conveniently enough, the Village is loaded with $1 pizza places for long nights of partying. Munchies anyone? Just kidding...I've not needed those...

5. Icona Pop!!! Soooo good! So fun. Such a weird crowd. It was at a club called Santos Party House and it was packed with one of the most eclectic groups of people I've ever seen. There were super grungy guys, and uber trendy hipster gals, and older men in business suits, and sassy gay boys...if you can think of a type, they were there. Welcome to NYC. Also--I want to be the Asian one. She's fucking cool. Excuse my French. Fat lady crush.

6. Oh yeah--by the way I take classes. Seven of them. With two Recitations. Fun fact: NYU is hardcore. But I find myself in the happy position of feeling ready for the workload and the content. I guess I might be smart or a good student or something :p Also I love class. Especially my program director. That woman is the shit.

Alrighty lovely people I love you all and miss you so much that it has manifested in physical illness.
But I know I'll see you all sooner than I know it. Now have some music I've been listening to since I got here.
